WELCOME TO DAR ES SALAAM
Habari! You’re finally here! We’ll whisk you away from Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) after your arrival into the city and take you to your accommodation. After you get settled into your new digs, we’ll introduce you to the rest of your crew for the week; an intimate group of individuals from all over the world ready to experience Tanzania’s culture and history. As a group, we’ll all head to our welcome dinner and kick off our new journey together.

THE REAL DAR ES SALAAM!
The best way to get to know a destination is by gaining a bit of its history. Today, we’ll be taking you on a tour that gives you a deep dive into Dar Es Salaam’s roots. We’ll immediately immerse ourselves in the local culture by trekking through the city to visit historical landmarks, sampling traditional foods, learning about the people, visiting the world famous Kariakoo market, and getting our first taste of Tanzanian hospitality with a Swahili lunch off the beaten path with a famous local chef.

WELCOME TO ZANZIBAR
We’ll be packing our bags and changing locations as we head to Zanzibar. Our first stop is Stone Town, where' we’ll relax and get familiar with the city. Today is the perfect opportunity to discover some of the things that make the city so great. Get to know your new travel companions, check out that cool spot your friends back home recommended, stop by the local markets or hang out poolside at our lush accommodations.

Today, we'll hit the streets of Stone Town for a walking tour of the old city, visiting the local markets and learning why the city is of prominent historical and artistic importance in East Africa, so much so, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In the evening, we’ll enjoy a sunset happy hour. We’ll enjoy dinner at one of the best seafood restaurants in Zanzibar.

All about the beach! Soothe yourself in the crystal clear waters and experience the local vibes of some of Africa’s most beautiful coastlines. Today is your day to do as you please at the beach.

In the evening, we'll come together one last time for a celebratory farewell dinner. Let our last meal together as a travel crew be a time to reflect on the unforgettable week Tanzania gave you, and for the memorable experience you gave yourself.

SPICE IT UP! Spice tour and Culinary Class
Now that we’re settled in Zanzibar, we’ll make a visit to one of the many shambas (spice farms) and a local village to learn the history and why the nickname “Spice Island” is well-deserved.

Spice tour and Culinary Class. The class entails making swahili food with a local chef using local ingredients. It is hands-on participatory class each student will be involved in preparation and cooking.

Cooking: Pilau (spice rice) is a festive dish, well-known and much loved in the Zanzibar archipelago. In this workshop, you will learn to prepare it, using many of Zanzibar’s fresh and aromatic spices – and of course you will get to eat it afterwards. You’ll take home the recipe and can then treat your friends and family to this beautiful and fragrant dish.

Via “Curious On Tanzania”, my sisters, niece, and I had a life-changing experience in Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar. The final accommodations were spectacular, to include TZ mainland; Gran Melia Arusha Hotel, Manyara’s Secret; Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater Bowl: Lahia Tented Lodge; Zanzibar: Kisiwa Beach hotel, & Park Hyatt Hotel! Our excursions were OUTSTANDING, including beach/pool time (with water fitness challenges), seeing the incredible animals in the Safari Drives and open air picnic lunch (at the Ngorongoro Crater Bowl), visiting with the historic Maasai Tribe, learning lots through the ZNZ Swahili Spice Journey and SCRUMPTIOUS Culinary experience, submerging into the historically rich and tremendously humbling ZNZ Slave Market visit, shopping and masterfully maneuvering through the ZNZ Stone Town market, and last but not least - DELIGHTING in our deliciously healthy meals!! Justa Lujwangana, our destination host, was FABULOUS, professional, and very patient with us through the pre-travel journey! Hillary, our Safari driver and guide, became a member of our family. What a WONDERFUL person, with excellent driving skills!!! “Mungu Wangu”! And Aziza, in ZNZ was TRULY gracious, kind, super knowledgeable, and FUN! We will forever be better beings after this wonderfully eye opening experience!! Thank you Justa / “Curious on Tanzania”! We truly did experience the unforgettable!!! ASANTE SANA!!

What an amazing experience we had!! From our amazing host Shubi and the wonderful people we met along the way. It was also a great learning experience. Justa's team is absolute wonderful and she herself was so kind. I can't say enough about the people of Tanzania, the food, the views, the whole experience was life changing. To our host Shubi who felt like family and Shahida who was an amazing historian. Thank you for the best trip ever!

We had a great time and the itinerary was excited perfectly. My favorite part by far was the safari and spice tour. I also appreciate the added touches for our birthday! Host was also amazing and made the trip worth while!!
